gum on the sidewalk

lyrics to a song I wrote last night, might be finished, might not.

her whisper eyes warm summer breeze
honeysuckle fence memory
simple melodies in dying language
we don’t spend time on what do you mean
surround myself in her glowing sleepiness
happy so pretty young decay
ring of phone miscalculate
can’t recall one word but still hold the whole feeling
grocery list on a small screen
asked her about death and her eyes flooded with light
in what way such recent goodnight
just don’t look too close fingernail expensive no time
fuzzy speaker wire sideways neck bleach
a stuffed teddy bear she fills my dreams
a taste of dirt and blessed arteries
want to know who you are see soft wrinkles shooting star
every other thought her broken image
gum on the sidewalk and we stop to play
